MICHAEL SHELBY EDWARDS Michael Shelby Edwards Born: 1982, Seattle, Washington. Edwards studied painting and drawing at the University of Washington where she worked closely with Ann Gale, Zhi Lin, David Brody, Phillip Govedare, Riley Brewster and Denzel Hurley. At the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts she studied with Renee Foulks, Denise Green, Vincent Desiderio and Joel Fisher among others. Her work is included in both private and public collections, including the Linda Lee Alter Collection and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum Collection. Returning perennially to the female form, she often uses her own body in addition to other live models and constructed figures from her imagination, as well as books and other literary sources for her paintings and drawings.
